  3. Scrooge: The Musical

A Joyous Musical for the Entire Family! This rousing adaptation of the 1970 Oscar-nominated film “Scrooge” tells the timeless tale of the infamous miser’s supernatural encounters on Christmas Eve. A wonderful musical score by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Leslie Bricusse (“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”) brings Charles Dickens' classic novel “A Christmas Carol” to life like never before. Scrooge! The Musical — the classic story of redemption and forgiveness, capped off with our traditional singing of “O’ Holy Night,” is the perfect way to celebrate the joy of Christmas.

John Dorney

It’s a great joy for John to be back at LaComedia. Performing as Jacob Marley is a bucket-list thing. Adding to that is the excitement of potentially playing Scrooge, which he may get to do depending on how Chris responds to what John puts in his tea. John retired from his own counting-house version of corporate greed and corruption five years ago and since has been busy in area theater including many shows at La Comedia (A Christmas Story, Grumpy Old Men, Guys and Dolls, Shear Madness, et al) and CLP (Beauty and the Beast, Funny Thing…Forum, Kiss Me Kate, et al). He hopes this performance haunts you, encourages your self-reflection, and prompts you to commit once more to holding to the promise of Christmas every day of the year, realizing that it really never is too late to become the “best friend, best master, and best man the good old city ever knew.” Love to many – L, S, D, B, N, A, S, M and Kathy.
