Victoria Theatre Association Named First Recipient of Coco's Cares

By: Aug. 23, 2010

For every meal sold at Coco's Bistro August 16 - September 11, Coco's Bistro will donate $1 to Victoria Theatre Association's Physicians for Kids Discovery Series. Proceeds from the program will be placed toward scholarships for the more than 30,000 Dayton area students who attend the school-day series.

"Dayton is very fortunate to have Victoria Theatre Association (VTA) and its amazing facilities. Their programs aren't something other communities can copy- or recreate- just as there is only one Coco's Bistro in the entire country," said Karen Wick, owner of Coco's Bistro. "We've been involved with the nationally recognized Stivers School of The Arts for years- and look at the Physicians for Kids Discovery Series as way to support young artists with tools to find their voice. Coco's Cares, our small philanthropic contribution to our community, is here to make sure that our future leaders understand and value the arts and the uniqueness of our city."

Earnings from Coco's Cares provide additional funding for the scholarship program that will help schools attend Physicians for Kids Discovery Series programs during the school day at very little or no cost. Programs such as Charlotte's Web, Alice and Wonderland - The Rock Opera, Aesop's Fables and Freedom Train bring school-age kids into the historic Victoria Theatre for a live theatre experience and comply with the Ohio Department of Education Academic Standards and Benchmarks, which means they're also learning about science, or history or language arts.
"VTA is thrilled to partner with one of Dayton most popular restaurants. This is very generous of Coco's Bistro and it once again demonstrates Karen Wick's commitment to the community!" said Michael Roediger, Vice President of Development for VTA.

To support Coco's Cares benefitting VTA, simply visit Coco's Bistro at 515 Wayne Ave, in the Oregon District, during the weeks of August 16 through September 11, and enjoy a scrumptious meal along with an elegant atmosphere. One dollar of every meal will be donated to VTA. View Coco's many delicious offerings by visiting www.228coco.com. For reservations or further information call 937-228-Coco (2626).
