Playhouse South Announces Auditions for A PIECE OF MY HEART
Playhouse South, A Community Theatre announces open auditions for A Piece of My Heart. Auditions will be held at the Clark Haines Theater, 3700 Far Hills Avenue at 7:00 pm on January 10 & 11, 2010. Performances are May 13-15 (Fr-Su), and May 20- 21, 2010 (Fr-Sa).
Based on true stories recounted in the book of the same name, A Piece of My Heart follows six women as they relive their memories of serving in Vietnam during the 1960s. These unsung heroes were among several thousand American women who volunteered during the Vietnam War, serving as nurses, civilian humanitarian workers and entertainers under frustrating and harrowing conditions. This work captures the music and soul of a tumultuous era in our history.
Auditioners are asked to prepare a response to the question "Why I wanted to go to Vietnam" that lasts no longer then 60 seconds. There will also be cold readings from the script and other sources. This production has Adult themes and language. Please bring a list of known conflicts including spring break and evenings. The production calls for 6 female and 1 male roles.
