About this studio
Northstar Dance Academy, LLC is a recreational and competitive dance studio at 315 Green Road in Manchester, Connecticut, now in its 22nd season. It was founded in 2003 by owner Kandie Melendez, who taught for 20 years at the Betty-Jane Turner School of Dance before opening her own family-oriented studio; she is certified by Test to Teach through Dance Masters of America and serves as president of Chapter 18 of the Dance Teachers Club of Connecticut. The academy takes students from age two and a half through advanced levels in limited-size classes, teaching classical and contemporary styles: preschool introductory classes, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary and acrobatics. Many teachers are studio alumni.
