About this studio
Cafe Dance is a barefoot classroom, rehearsal and performance space at 3307 B Hancock Drive in northwest Austin, Texas, founded in 1996 by Kate Warren. Rather than operating as a conventional graded school, it houses a community of independent dance, yoga and movement instructors who rent and teach in the space, and it describes itself as concerned with community, process and performance. The class offering specializes in modern and contemporary dance at professional and pre-professional level, and extends to children's classes, classes for seniors including a long-running senior yoga class, and general movement and yoga classes for all ages and skill levels. The intimate studio also hosts performances and events, and rehearsal space is available to hire.
