RUNAWAYS is the seldom produced Elizabeth Swados musical about kids who live on the street. Written in 1978, the situations the kids face are just as pressing today as they were at that time. The stories are told though monologues, chants, dance, rap, and beat poetry. All the stories are based on accounts Ms. Swados collected from actual runaways in New York. The production is an unflinching look at what children as young as 10 go through to survive. This production features senior Savanna Crane as Lidia, senior Caleb Ross as Mico, and Matilda McSpadden as Jackie who is a child prostitute. The MYO cast is made up of 26 young performers from around the McKinney Texas area.
