Mary Zimmerman’s astonishing play, METAMORPHOSES, based on the myths of Ovid, envelops the Art Factory stage with breathtaking imagery and surrealistic storytelling. Set in and around a giant pool of water, a group of storytellers weave in and out of stories and characters in one of the most unique and thrilling theatrical experiences created for the stage. As the storytellers wade through the onstage pool, these ancient stories of poignance, humor and tragedy are brought to life through the use of movement, puppetry, music, and many more imaginative theatrical techniques. Audiences are taken on an epic journey as METAMORPHOSES examines the inevitability of change and the human ability to adapt to change with the juxtaposition of ancient and contemporary images and language.

METAMORPHOSES features an incredible Houston-local cast including Colton Berry as Midas and others, Luke Hamilton as Vertumnus and others, Nonie Hilliard as Alcyone and others, Sam Lank as Eurydice and others, Ian Lewis as Orpheus and others, Allan McFarlane as Zeus and others, Christine Mompoint as Aphrodite and others, Julia Noble as Myrrha and others, and Shonee Singer as Nursemaid and others. METAMORPHOSES is co-directed by Art Factory’s Founding Artistic and Executive Directors, Colton Berry and Luke Hamilton, Berry also serves as Production Designer, with Jane Volke as a Design Associate and Stage Management by Rachel Epstein.

METAMORPHOSES runs March 24 through April 2 with performances at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. Art Factory is located at The Docks, 1125 Providence St., Houston TX 77002. Free onsite parking is available. Tickets can be purchased at www.ArtFactoryHouston.com/tickets.

COLTON BERRY is an East Coast native, but has called Houston home for over a decade. He has been working professionally in theatre since childhood and has since performed in hundreds of plays and musicals. As a vocalist, Colton appeared in SHOWTIME! AT THE APOLLO, toured France with the FRENCH-AMERICAN GOSPEL MUSIC WORKSHOP EXCHANGE, sang alongside Thelma Houston and The Temptations, and was a Top 24 Finalist in the Seventh Season of AMERICAN IDOL. In Houston, he has been seen on many stages including performances with TUTS and The Music Box Theatre. In addition to performing, Colton is an accomplished producer and director and is the Founding Artistic Director of Art Factory Houston. LUKE J. HAMILTON is the Founding Executive Director of Art Factory. Behind the scenes, he also is the Director for many productions at Art Factory, as well as the Resident Choreographer. Luke has appeared across many Houston stages at the Alley Theatre, TUTS, Houston Grand Opera, Masquerade Theatre, The House of Blues, The Landing Theatre Company, Stages Repertory Theatre, and several other local theaters. He received extensive musical theatre and dance training at the Houston International Ballet Academy, the Tribble School, the Royal Academy for Performing Arts, the Humphrey’s School of Musical Theatre, and he trained privately in dance, voice, and acting for over twelve years. Luke is thrilled to see Art Factory entering its 7th Season, and could not be more proud of the growth this company has made and all of the wonderful, talented, and passionate people involved.
Nonie Hilliard

NONIE HILLARD is a Texas native and happy San Antonio transplant. She graduated from the Visual and Dramatic Arts program at Rice University in 2019 and has for the most part remained in Houston ever since. Favorite acting credits include Rice Theatre Program's JULIUS CAESAR (Cassius) and PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE (Germaine) and Art Factory's XANADU (Calliope), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Lumiere), and PIPPIN (Fastrada). She is beyond grateful for the factory family and so excited for everything in store!
Sam Lank
Eurydice and Others
SAM LANK is thrilled to be taking part in METAMORPHOSES with Art Factory. Lank has previously appeared in Art Factory’s productions of  BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Monsieur D'Arque) HOLD ME CLOSER (Featured Soloist), XANADU (Euterpe) , IT'S BRITNEY, B*TCH (Featured Soloist) and HEAD OVER HEELS (Vocal Ensemble) and THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (Vocal Ensemble). Other credits include ANNIE (Lily St. Regis/Grace understudy), GYPSY (Agnes/Tessie Tura understudy), WHITE CHRISTMAS (Betty Haynes), and premiering choral pieces by Dan Forrest at Carnegie Hall. They are a current member of the Houston Symphony Chorus. They would like to thank their partner Ethan for always supporting them whole-heartedly as well as their friends and family for their encouragement and love.  ​
Ian Lewis

IAN LEWIS is proud to make his Art Factory debut with this stunning piece of beautiful theatre and is lucky to have had a wonderful team of collaborative artist with such a unique vision to build this world with. He studied at the University of Houston and has an affinity for Shakespeare, as he has played such colorful characters such as Henry V, Hamlet, Caliban, Mercutio, Malvolio, and others. You can next catch him in Photograph 51 as James Watson at the JCC opening this April. When he isn’t trotting the boards he enjoys cooking, reading, nature, getting beat at video games by his girlfriend, and spending time with his daughter Maisie, to whom he dedicates every performance.
Allan McFarlane

ALLAN MCFARLANE is thrilled to be a part of Art Factory’s production of METAMORPHOSES. The current resident of Houston Texas, hails from San Diego, CA. Allan's previous Art Factory credits include Charlemagne in PIPPIN, Cogsworth in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Danny Maguire in XANADU, Dametas in HEAD OVER HEELS, Policeman in SWEENEY TODD, Larry in COMPANY, and Tom Buchanan in GATSBY. Other credits include Collins in RENT, Kerchak in TARZAN, Sweaty Eddie in SISTER ACT, Macbeth in Shakespeare’s MACBETH, Petruchio in Shakespeare’s TAMING OF THE SHREW, and Don the John in Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. When not performing, Allan spends his time as a dedicated family man, teacher, and a Personal Trainer/Nutritionist. Allan would like to thank his son Axal for his support; as well as the Directors, cast, and crew for an enjoyable experience.
Christine Mompoint

CHRISTINE MOMPOINT is so honored to be a part of Art Factory’s METAMORPHOSES. Mompoint started with Art Factory in September of 2022. She has performed in PIPPIN (Leading Player), DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Enchantress/ Silly Girl #2/ Napkin/ Belle Understudy), HOLD ME CLOSER BY CANDLELIGHT (Featured Vocalist), and IT’S BRITNEY B*TCH (Featured Vocalist). During AF’s production of XANADU (October 2022), Mompoint took on the role of Front House Manager. She continued this role during DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, while performing all of her acting roles, and assisted Artistic Director Colton Berry as a Production Assistant. This year, Mompoint has officially joined the Art Factory team as the Company Manager and is excited to continue working with the team to develop new shows and community programs. Outside of Art Factory, Mompoint is a member of the Houston Show Choir where she has performed at Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo, Jones Hall, Sugarland Town Square, Cynthia Woodlands Mitchell Pavilion, and Smart Financial Center (Barry Manilow One Last Time Tour).  She also operates her own non-profit corporation titled “The Houston Higher Education Student Coalition” where she helps young adults find resources to enter college, trade school, or the workforce. 
Julia Noble

JULIA NOBLE is a proud Savannah, GA native and a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. She is so honored and excited to be celebrating Art Factory in its 7th year and can’t wait to share what’s in store for 2023! Shonne Singer

SHONNE SINGER is so excited to be back on the Art Factory stage! She was recently seen in IT’S BRITNEY, B*TCH (Featured Singer) and XANADU (Ensemble) . Singer is a playwright and director with a background in physical theatre and training from the National Theatre Institute. She is also a music and theatre teacher in Katy as well as an actor, sound designer, scenic painter, and director for various theatres in the Houston area. But no place comes close to Art Factory where she has acted and worked at since 2018! Favorite AF credits include: GATSBY (Catherine), GREASE (Rudy/Trudy/Judy), and ensemble roles in JASPER IN DEADLAND and ROCKY HORROR. Other favorite credits include: ANTIGONE (Chorus), ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (Queen Aggravain), SEUSSIFIED CHRISTMAS CAROL (Belle/Mrs. C/Ghost of Christmas Past) and PROOF (Catherine). Art Factory Houston, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Founded in the Autumn of 2016 by Executive Director Luke J. Hamilton and Artistic Director Colton Berry,

Art Factory began in the East Downtown (EaDo) District of Houston, Texas, as EaDo Playhouse.

In January of 2018, Art Factory moved to our new home at The Docks, just north of Downtown Houston​

By 2022, Art Factory produced nearly fifty lauded productions, including Houston premieres like "Disenchanted!" and "GATSBY," theatrical live-music events like "It's Britney, B*tch" and "MONSTER: The Music of Lady Gaga," digital productions like "[title of show]" and "Pippin," and re-imagined classics like "Grease" and "The Wizard of Oz," making it Houston's highest producer of musical theatre.

          Art Factory exists to broaden the experience of the Houston arts community by offering multifaceted programming, developing new and original works and exploring uncharted artistic perspectives of established plays and musicals.

          Art Factory presents works of theatre in a purposefully intimate setting, reducing the divide between spectator and art in order to foster a connected and empathetic community in Houston.

          Art Factory provides high quality art for patrons of all races, nationalities, sexual orientations, and gender identities by maintaining an inclusive and tolerant environment and reflecting the vast diversity of Houston within our productions and staff.

          Art Factory offers Houston theatre-creators a unique outlet to develop their artistic expression through the development and production of new works and the reinvention of existing works.

          Art Factory maintains a deliberately intimate space, to connect Houston theatre patrons to art in a fearless, face-to-face manner. Each moment spent in Art Factory immerses Houston theatre-goers in a full artistic experience and binds spectators to their humanity, allowing art to unite our community.

          Art Factory holds firmly to the nostalgia and familiarity of established plays and musicals by maintaining their integrity, while creating inventive aesthetics for each work, allowing our patrons to re-discover the titles they love.

          Art Factory productions give Houston theatergoers of all generations access to a brand new theatrical experience with the exclusive ability to witness the creation of Houston-helmed pieces of theatre as well as the development of pieces from across the globe that have not yet been presented in our area.​
