WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz announced today that the "Pay It Forward with Pay What You Can" partner for WTT's upcoming production of Hand to God will be local non-profit Journey of Hope Grief Support Center.

In October 2017, WTT announced the "Pay It Forward with Pay What You Can" initiative in which all proceeds from PWYC previews are donated to various causes and organizations in need. The 2017-2018 Pay It Forward with Pay What You Can performances are sponsored by Holly and Tom Mayer. To date, the program has raised over $4,000 in support of Gideon's Feet, Big Thought's DaVerse Lounge, UNIDOS Puerto Rican Hurricane Relief, and The Alley Theatre. WTT is proud to add Journey of Hope Grief Support Center to our growing list of PWYC recipients.

Journey of Hope Grief Support Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing group grief support to children, adolescents, and their parents or adult caregivers who have lost a loved one to death. Journey of Hope offers these services in a warm, caring, and nurturing environment where the feelings of grief, pain, and loss may be expressed. Trained volunteer group facilitators lead participants in their personal journey toward healing and healthy reconciliation of their grief. The program is the only open-ended one that focuses on the needs of children and their families.

Journey of Hope Executive Director, Laura Korba stated, "Kids who experience the death of a loved one get knocked down and need help getting back up. We see in our schools and in our communities what can happen when children's pain is not addressed. Journey of Hope Grief Support Center is one of the few places in our community where kids and their families dealing with the trauma of death can find help for free. We provide support and a safe space to express big feelings of loss, anger, and sadness; we give them with tools to navigate this very different world and help them find hope and resilience. We are grateful to WaterTower Theatre for supporting some of the most vulnerable kids in our community."
