Glitz, glamour, kidnapping, money, and really, really small false teeth welcome you to the hilarious, terrifying and surreal world of child beauty pageants to continue the season for Theatre FMPAT/Our Productions Theatre Co. in their new space at the MCL Grand Black Box Theater – tonight, September 13 - 23, 2012, as part of their 20th season.

“Pageant Play” is written by Matthew Wilkas and Mark Setlock a hilarious crowd pleaser and was called one of the funniest new plays in 2008 by the Boston Globe. Theatre FMPAT/Our Productions is bringing the regional premiere of the piece to the area with an all-star cast of talented professionals including Chris Robinson and Ryan Roach of "Greater Tuna" fame. The cast also stars well known Dallas actress Andi Allen and the very funny Staci Ingram.

Set right here in Texas, Pinky Corningfield will do anything to make sure her little angel wins the ultimate title, Supreme Queen. When Marge, a newcomer to the pageant circuit, shows up and starts grabbing all the glory, Pinky and her minions, Bob and Bobby, use some unorthodox methods in order to ensure her darling, Chevrolet, is victorious.

The production is directed by Lisa Devine, whose directing credits include the regional premiere of "Eye of God" for Theatre East in New York City, and is currently the resident director for Roverdramawerks in Plano, Texas.

“This production is hysterical,” said Scott Kirkham, Theatre FMPAT/Our Productions Executive Producer. “The dark comedy of the piece has you laughing hysterically, while the underlying themes stick with you for lively conversation after the piece. The perfect mixture for an amazing night of live theatre, delivered by a simply excellent cast.”

Four actors and two dresses play the eight characters in the show. "The little girl pageant contestants are played by exactly that - two dresses" said Kirkham, "truly showing great imagination by the playwright who is making a bold statement with the piece." The two men in the cast double as both the respective partners of the ladies, and as Bob and Bobby, Pageant Coaches. No strangers to quick changes, the men are played by Chris Robinson and Ryan Roach who were last seen as numerous characters in the hit RED, WHITE & TUNA in the 2011 Season. Andi Allen and Staci Ingram bring the dresses to life as their pageant children, as they toss, throw, and drag them across Texas on their quest to win Supreme Queen.

“Pageant Play” is a limited run tonight, September 13 - 23, 2012, The MCL Grand Black Box Theater, located at 100 North Charles Street, Lewisville, as part of Theatre FMPAT/Our Productions' 20th Season of plays and musicals.
