Theatre Britain and Uptown Players are thrilled to announce the revival of Theatre Britain's acclaimed production of Vincent River on June 4 - 21, 2009, at the KD Studio Theatre in Dallas.
Set in the East End of London, Vincent River written by Philip Ridley, sets a harsh, lyrical and hysterical drama about a bereaved mother and the anguished young man who crashes into her life. In the aftermath of a hate crime, Anita (Sue Roberts-Birch) and Davey (James Chandler) search for the answer to the simplest and most impossible of questions: Why? Vincent River plays cat-and-mouse with its audience, dispensing truths, half-truths and falsehoods in strategically staggered increments.

Although Theatre Britain and Uptown Players have always had close ties, this is the first time the two companies have cooperated formally. Vincent River runs June 4 - 21, 2009, with performances at 8 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday nights and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Performances take place at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Freeway #180 (I-35 at Medical District Drive), Dallas Texas 75207. Tickets can be purchased online at www.theatre-britain.com or www.uptownplayers.org or by phone at (214) 219-2718.

Theatre Britain is a non-profit, professional theatre producing work by British playwrights and is known for presenting unique holiday shows called pantos, traditional fairytales or well-known stories told in the style of a melodrama. Theatre Britain was nominated for eight awards at the 8th Annual COLUMN Theatre awards in 2007. In 2006, the Dallas Observer awarded Theatre Britain with "Best of Dallas" award.

Now entering its eighth season, Uptown Players has gathered a dedicated following with an annual audience base of nearly 12,000 patrons, including more than 900 season subscribers. The response from the community and critics has been remarkable, including more than 25 Leon Rabin Awards from the Dallas Theatre League, several hundred "The Column" Awards and 14 Theatre Critics Forum Awards in its first seven seasons. Uptown Players has also been named the best theatre company by the Dallas Voice Readers in 2006-2008 and by the Dallas Observer in 2004 and 2005. Uptown Players is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization, presenting plays and musicals that challenge audiences artistically, build cultural bridges and strive to create greater positive public awareness and acceptance through the performing arts. There is no other theater group with this unique mission in the Dallas area.
