Rover Dramawerks opens the musical My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra, conceived by David Grapes and Todd Olson on Thursday, September 10. Performances will be at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue in Plano (next to the Courtyard Theater), continuing through October 3, 2009, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and an additional matinee performance on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.
My Way is a musical tribute to the songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, “the first modern pop superstar.” This elegant evening contains fifty-six songs sung by four great singers, including All the Way, Fly Me to The Moon, I Only Have Eyes For You, It Was A Very Good Year, The Lady Is A Tramp, My Funny Valentine, New York, New York, and of course, My Way. A bright, breezy tribute to one of the greatest vocalist of all time. The talented ensemble cast includes Brynne Huffman, Claire Moore, Silas Moores, and R. Bradford Smith.Mark-Brian Sonna directs and choreographs, with Richard Gwozdz as musical director. Jan Toms is Assistant Director/Stage Manager, Patrick S. O’Neil is set designer, Michael Campbell is lighting designer, and Paul McKenzie is costume designer.Tickets for My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra are $15.00 on Thursdays and matinees and $18.00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursday, September 10 is Preview Night, and all seats are “pay-what-you-can.” The following Thursday, September 17, Rover Dramawerks invites all patrons to join the cast at the ArtCentre of Plano (three blocks down from the theatre) after the show for a reception with the cast, director, and designers, as well as Rover board members.Photo by Jan Toms.
