Jubilee Theatre ends its 2008-2009 Season, The company’s 28th, with Sam Shade: A Detective Musical, an original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Rogers.  Directed by Tyrone King, this farce is based on the classic novels The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells and The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett.

Taking its cues from film-noir, this musical’s humor and style stem from the classic movies of the 1940s and 50s. All The Players are present on the set of a new movie being filmed but everything seems to be going wrong.  Can detective Sam Shade figure out who is to blame before it’s too late? With silly antics and witty dialogue, this musical will keep you holding onto The Edge of your seat until the very last scene.

This sizzling summer production features a cast of seventeen including Jubilee favorites Robert Rouse, Sheran Goodspeed Keyton, Major Attaway, Michele Rene, Steven Griffin, Aaron Petite, Bill Hass, Crystal Williams, Rick Spivey, Saundra Peterson, Durant Searcy, Demetrius Ethley, and Stormi Demerson as well as newcomers Alicia Miller, Haley Law, LaShada Jackson, Lorens Portalatin, and Paige Brown. Set design is by George Miller, Costume design is by Tina Pitts, choreography is by Sheran Goodspeed Keyton, and lighting design is by Nikki DeShea Smith.  Joe Rogers, Jubilee’s celebrated Music Director, leads the Jubilee jazz ensemble.

Single tickets for this production are on sale now.   Sam Shade: A Detective Musical opens July 31 and runs through August 23, 2009. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $25 for the run of the production.  The Thursday Night Special will continue with $10 tickets if purchased online or at the door.  Tickets can be purchased from the Jubilee Theatre Box Office by calling 817-338-4411 Tuesday through Friday between noon and 6 p.m. or online by visiting the Jubilee website: jubileetheatre.org.
