Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts presents Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's classic INTO THE WOODS. Be careful what you wish for...

Directed by Megan Kelly Bates, with musical direction by Lynn Ambrose, performances run August 3rd & 4th at 7pm, August 5th at 2pm& 7pm, and August 6th at 2pm at the KD Conservatory Black Box Theatre, 2600 N Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75207.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show which will showcase the unique and adept talents of DAMPA students.

Fresh on the heels of the wildly successful Willy Wonka Jr., Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts challenges their students with this new production, both vocally and theatrically, bringing their best performances to life, and entertaining audiences throughout North Texas. DAMPA prides itself on training young professionals, with many students going on to pursue music and theatre professionally in college!

"We are proud to welcome back many student veterans, who have starred in past productions like School of Rock and Willy Wonka Jr," says owner Lisa Jenkins. "Audiences will be truly awed and inspired by these talented young artists!"
