Casa Mañana and Dallas Theater Center Join For TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

A partnership 52 Years in the making, Casa Mañana and Dallas Theater Center unite to co-produce an adaptation of the Harper Lee classic To Kill a Mockingbird. This is the first time these two elite theaters in the Dallas / Fort Worth area have come together to produce a show. To Kill a Mockingbird is presented at Casa Mañana Theatre September 24 - October 2 and at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center October 21 - November 20. Tickets are now on sale.

To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, follows the journey of Jem and Scout Finch, whose father, Atticus, has been appointed to defend a black man unjustly accused. As the trial progresses, the children witness the moral and societal issues that plague their town. Presented in partnership with Dallas Theater Center, To Kill a Mockingbird is a great reminder of the power of tolerance, courage and justice.

To Kill a Mockingbird stars Jonathan Crombie as "Atticus," Morgan Richards as "Scout" and James Dybas as "Bob Ewell." Crombie's theatre credits include The Drowsy Chaperone on Broadway and regional productions Glass Menagerie, The Oxford Roof Climbers Rebellion, The Dishwashers and Arcardia. Crombie is well-known for playing "Gilbert Blythe" in the TV movie Anne of Green Gables. Richards has performed in several Casa Mañana productions including Disney's My Son Pinocchio, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reinder and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Bass Performance Hall.

She was most recently seen as "Glinda" in Casa Mañana's production of The Wizard of Oz. Dybas has been on Broadway for over 40 years and has been featured in eight original Broadway productions. His Broadway credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel, Sunset Boulevard and 42nd Street.

To Kill a Mockingbird is directed by Wendy Dann. Dann is the Co-author and Director of Sammy & Me. Sammy & Me has played at the ALLIANCE THEATRE, Hangar Theatre, MusicalFare Theatre, National Black Theatre Festival, and with New Vintage Theatricals. Dann served as Associate Artistic Director at the Hangar Theatre for seven seasons, where she directed The 39 Steps, Betrayal, No Child..., Bad Dates, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, I Am My Own Wife, The Blue Room, Cats, and Stones in His Pockets.

Additional cast members include Pam Dougherty as "Mrs. Dubose," Greg Dulcie as "Judge Taylor" and "Walter Cunningham, Sr.," Matthew Gray as "Heck Tate," Bob Hess as "Mr. Gilmer," Anastasia Munoz as "Mayella," Bob Reed as "Doctor" and "Clerk," Akin Babatunde as "Reverend Sykes," Denis Lee as "Calpurnia," Sally Vahle as "Miss Maudie Atkinson," Akron Watson as "Tom Robinson," Van Quattro as "Boo Radley," Aidan Langford as "Dill," David Allen Norton as "Jem," Dawson Holder as "Walter" and understudy of "Jem," Hayley Lenamon as understudy for "Scout," and Cuatro Roman as the understudy for "Dill" and "Walter."

Additional artistic staff for To Kill a Mockingbird include Jennifer Ables as Costume Designer, Brian Bembridge as Lighting Designer, Donna Marquet as Set Designer and Sarah Pickett as Content Designer.

Casa Mañana's production of To Kill a Mockingbird is presented in partnership with Dallas Theater Center. Casa Mañana's performance dates are Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 30 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 1 at 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. For more information on Dallas Theater Center's performance dates and times for To Kill a Mockingbird visit www.DallasTheaterCenter.org.

Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. is a student preview night with cast talkback following the show; open for students, faculty and staff with valid school ID for $10. This show is suitable for most audiences.

Tickets for To Kill a Mockingbird are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Casa Mañana Theatre box office at 817.332.2272. You can also visit the box office at 3101 West Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth. Ticket prices are $40 to $65, depending upon seating location.
