Black Pearl Sings! playwright Frank Higgins will participate in a talkback with director Terry Martin and musical director Akin Babatunde immediately following performances of the show on May 29 and 30. The talkback will take place on the Main Stage of the Addison Theatre Centre.

Mr. Higgins is the author of The Sweet By ‘n' By, which was produced with Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow, and Black Pearl Sings! which was produced with Tonya Pinkins. His plays have been seen in New York and at the Williamstown Theater Festival, the Old Globe Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theater, Ford's Theater in Washington, DC, Kansas City Repertory Theater, The Barter Theater, Florida Studio Theater, Merrimack Repertory Theater, the Penumbra Theater, Inter-Act Theater, Sacramento Theatre Company, and others. Among his other plays are WMKS: Where Music Kills Sorrow, Gunplay, and Miracles. He has also written several plays for young audiences, including The Slave Dancer's Choice, Anansi the Spider and The Middle Passage, and The Country of the Blind. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a member of the Dramatists Guild.

In the midst of the Great Depression, Susannah Mullally travels the country, recording lost traditional songs for the Library of Congress. When she encounters Pearl in a Texas prison, Susannah uncovers a treasure-trove of unrecorded slave-era music. But can Pearl hand over her ancestor's songs without giving up something of herself? Starring powerhouse performer Liz Mikel, Black Pearl Sings! is the powerful, honest, and wryly funny story of two women from radically different backgrounds and the music that unites them.

Black Pearl Sings! will run May 27 - June 20 at the Addison Theatre Centre, which is located at 15650 Addison Road in Addison, Texas. Performance times are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays at 8:00 PM, Saturdays at 2:00 PM (June 19 only) and 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Ticket prices range from $15 - $40. Tickets are available by calling the WTT Box Office at 972.450.6232 or online at www.watertowertheatre.org. Group rates are also available.
