SPRING AWAKENING's Ali Stroker to Perform with 44 OCSA Students

As a part of the 30th Anniversary year, 44 student artists will have the unique opportunity to perform alongside Modern Stage veteran Ali Stroker, the first actress in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway.

Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), a nationally recognized arts school, will host two evenings of performances by Ali Stroker and the students in OCSA's Musical Theatre Conservatory.

Show dates: Fri., Jan. 27, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. and Sat., Jan. 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Performances run at the Orange County School of the Arts, Center for the Arts, Margaret A. Webb Theatre, 801 N. Main St., Santa Ana, CA 92701.

Ali Stroker is a groundbreaking performer with an inspiring story. In 2009, Ali became the first actress in a wheelchair to earn a degree from the New York University Tisch Drama Department. She recently played the role of Anna in the revival of Spring Awakening on Broadway. Ali was a finalist on season two of The Glee Project and then played Artie's love interest on Glee. Her performance in the role of Olive in The Twenty-Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee earned Ali a Barrymore Award nomination. Ali Stoker is also an ardent humanitarian and advocate, she is a co-chair of Women Who Care, which supports United Cerebral Palsy of NYC. She is a founding member of Be More Heroic, an anti-bullying campaign which tours the country connecting with thousands of students each year. The performance is part of the school's Master Artist Series, which was formally launched in celebration of OCSA's 30th Anniversary. Through the school's Master Artist Series, the students have the unique opportunity to study under esteemed guest artists and master teachers who create meaningful and life-changing experiences. Artists who have or will be participating in the Master Artist Series include Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award-nominated actor, Matthew Morrison, renowned jazz trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis, acclaimed soprano Deborah Voigt, and television and theatre writer, and producer, Kris Lythgoe.
