The casting for Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's DOCTOR CERBERUS, which will run on the Julianne Argyros Stage from April 11 through May 2, has been announced.
In the suburbs of Washington, D.C. in the mid-1980s, 13-year-old Franklin Robertson is trying to survive. His parents don't understand him. His older brother torments him non-stop. He'd rather write stories than go on dates. His great comfort comes from the horror movies he watches every Saturday night at midnight, on a black-and-white TV set in his basement, introduced by the enigmatic Dr. Cerberus. In fact, Franklin feels certain that Dr. Cerberus can save his misfit life-if only Franklin could get on his show. A coming-of-age comedy with a twist of terror, Doctor Cerberus is the latest from this "intelligent, compassionate writer" (Variety).Franklin will be played by Brett Ryback, who played the role in the 2009 staged reading. Steven Culp ("Desperate Housewives" will reprise his role as Franklin's dad. Also joining the cast is Candy Buckley as Franklin's mother, Jarrett Sleeper ("The Secret Life of an American Teenager") will play his brother, Rodney, and Jamison Jones ("24") will play Doctoro Cerberus and other characters.Bart DeLorenzo will direct. The creative team features set design by Keith Mitchell, costume design by Shigeru Yaji, lighting design by Rand Ryan, and sound design by Steven Cahill. The dramaturg for the production is Kelly L. Miller and the stage manager is Kathryn Davies.
