MacLeod, Bulifant, Bailey and More Star in Dezart Performs' ON THE AIR Tonight

By:

Stage and Television stars Gavin MacLeod, Joyce Bulifant and G.W. Bailey lead a cast of twenty professional actors and singers in Dezart Performs fundraising gala, "ON THE AIR! An Evening of Live Radio Show Classics," tonight, March 13, 2014 at The Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs. Macleod, best know for his stint helming THE LOVE BOAT, and Buifant, known for her many recurring television roles including a long running stint on MATCH GAME, are paired once again as husband as wife in "My Favorite Husband", one of several hilarious radio recreations that evening. (MacClead and Bulifant palyed husband and wife for seven seasons on the classic MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW in the seventies). Bailey is a veteran film and television actor best known for his starring roles in POLICE ACADEMY and THE CLOSER.

The live show with post-performance VIP reception will take the audience back in time to radio's golden age of the 1940s and 1950s with all of the stage gimmicks in tact including sound effects created right on stage, applause signs-and even commercials with original jingles for the modern-day companies sponsoring the special event. The radio shows to be vividly recreated are "The Bickersons," "Sherlock Holmes," and "My Favorite Husband." Directing will be Gregg Oppenheimer, son of Jess Oppenheimer, the original creator and head writer of "My Favorite Husband," which starred Lucille Ball and later became the hit television show, "I Love Lucy.

Rounding out the cast will be Lynn Ferguson, Gloria Greer, Millicent Martin, Steven Brand, Julian Holloway and Roger Perry. Bob Hardt will emcee.

"This is the biggest, most exciting event we've held to date," said Shaw, who is also the show's producer. "Assembling a group of more than 20 professional actors, singers and musicians for ON THE AIR! has been a challenging but rewarding experience. I've met some of the most incredibly gracious people over the last number of months--this talent is over the top. The gala will be a spectacular evening of entertainment for the audience, truly taking them back in time to the golden age of radio."
