"Far Away Places" starring Vicki Knight" on April 27th at 2 PM in Palm Desert Originally from Canada, (she's big in Winnipeg) Vicki Knight moved to the Desert area in the early eighties and wasted no time making a name for herself in Southern California, quickly being dubbed 'The Desert's Songbird'. On Sunday, April 27, 2014, Ms. Knight will present her latest cabaret show, "Far Away Places", featuring songs sung in Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Hebrew, Yiddish, and more, from Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, and other 'far away places, together with with stories and patter delivered in the comedic style that's become her trademark.

Highlights of her career are numerous and include: The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies; appearances at The Lawrence Welk Theater; Cabaret Theatre West; and featured roles at The Palm Canyon Theatre. Her one-woman cabaret shows have been crowd pleasers at special events, private parties and fundraising concerts for The Stroke Recovery Center and The Jewish Federation of the Desert, and all of the best venues in the Valley. Vicki has received many awards and nominations from the Desert Theater League. "Far Away Places" starring Vicki Knight with accompaniment by Musical Director Paul Cracchiolo on piano, will be presented at 2 PM on April 27, 2014 as part of Les Michaels' Sundays In Summer Series at the Arthur Newman Theater in The Joslyn Center, 73750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert. Tickets are $11 cash only and available at the box office, which opens at 1 PM before the show.
