Collaborative Program of Orange County's Premier Universities Gives Access to London's Theatre Scene

By:

The Collaborative Arts Development Experience (CADE)'s London program is a joint program of Chapman University's College of Performing Arts, CSU Fullerton's College of the Arts, and UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts.

The two-week program is built by and for theatre lovers both young and old.

Lifelong learners get to experience the London theatre scene through plays and musicals, backstage tours of the city's storied playhouses, talk-backs with actors, stage managers, and the like, and there is ample free time to explore one of the world's most exciting cultural hubs.

College students who participate, in addition to the shows, tours and talk-backs, learn from the United Kingdom's most celebrated educators at schools like the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and Shakespeare's Globe Education.

"The workshops were life altering! And the opportunity to speak to actors, some of them not much older than me, currently working in London's theatres was amazing and so motivating," said one of the students who participated last year.

This year's lineup of shows are a diverse mix of musicals, plays, and Shakespeare including the new production of 42nd Street, Royal Shakespeare's production of Antony & Cleopatra, and the National Theatre's Angels in America.

"This was the best trip ever! I never would have been able to do all of the things that CADE offers if I were traveling on my own, and at the price, it was a bargain," said one lifelong learner of last year's program.

The fun and excitement of London - the city's theatre scene is literally turned inside out, opening its backstage doors, and providing access only possible with CADE.

Included in the experience are flights, housing, transportation in London, select meals, tickets to shows, backstage tours, and one-of-a-kind interactions with industry professionals.
