Broadway's Freeman, Lipitz et al. Set for OCPAC's THE LION KING, 5/26 - 6/13

Casting has been announced for the Orange County Performing Arts Center engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING. The stage production play on the Segerstrom Hall stage for three weeks from May 26 to June 13. The press opening night is May 28 at 7:30 PM. This engagement is currently one of seven productions running worldwide along with New York, London, Hamburg, Tokyo, Paris and Las Vegas.

THE LION KING continues to reign as one of the most popular shows on Broadway and around the world. Now in its 13th year, THE LION KING is the eighth longest-running musical in Broadway history and the first American musical to welcome 50 million guests worldwide. The global phenomenon is the winner of more than 70 major awards worldwide, including the 1998 Tony Award® and NY Drama Critics Award for Best Musical, the 1999 Grammy® for Best Musical Show Album, and the 1999 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Choreography and Best Costume Design.

The cast includes some previous Broadway cast members. Tony Freeman who will reprise the role of "Zazu," Ben Lipitz reprising the role of Pumbaa," and Jerome Stephens, Jr. who reprises the role of "Young Simba" which he alternates.

The rest of the cast are Brent Harris as "Scar," Dionne Randolph as "Mufasa," Phindile Mkhize as "Rafiki," Tyler Murree as "Timon," Marja Harmon as "Nala," André Jackson as "Simba," Omari Tau as "Banzai," Andrea Jones as "Shenzi," Ben Rosenberry as "Ed," Elijah Johnson who alternates "Young Simba" with Stephens, and Jamariana Tribble and Madai Monica Williams who will alternate "Young Nala."

THE LION KING will play Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM, Saturday matinees at 2 PM and Sunday matinees at 1 PM and a Thursday matinee on May 27 at 2 PM. Ticket prices start as low as $23.25. Additionally, Premium Ticket Packages, which include a prime seat location, a commemorative souvenir program and an exclusive merchandise item, are also available. All tickets are available online at www.OCPAC.org, by calling (714) 556-2787 or at the Center's Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. The 2 PM performance on Saturday, June 12 will be sign-language interpreted.
