From a blue-collar upbringing to the White House, it’s been quite a ride for comedian PJ Walsh. The navy veteran is bringing his one-man comedy show, Over There: Comedy Is His Best Weapon, to The Palace Danbury theatre this fall.
Over There illustrates the hardship and hilarity of PJ Walsh’s journey. As a screw-up kid growing up in Brewster, New York, Walsh enlists never expecting to go to war. After three wars, a stint as Bill Clinton’s dental technician, and a career in stand-up comedy, he discovers what matters in life as he faces mortality in the belly of a C-130 plane over Afghanistan.

Walsh’s relatable story brings viewers through his struggles to escape his hometown, survive basic training and six months on a ship during the Gulf War, work in the White House and Camp David, and eventually step into a comedy career that has found him performing alongside Larry The Cable Guy and hosting his own radio show.

“Just when you’re thinking you can laugh no more, he hits you in the stomach with raw emotion and you realize his comic agenda is not just about him but to help and support others as well.“ Maura Kelly NY Theatre

This past July, Walsh completed his 15th overseas tour entertaining the US Military. Coming in October, Walsh will be featured as one of 12 international operators in the highly anticipated “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” game.

Over There: Comedy Is His Best Weapon will be performed at The Palace Danbury on Saturday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be ordered online at www.thepalacedanbury.com or bought at the door starting at 7 p.m. the evening of the performance.
