Windham Theatre Guild's INTO THE WOODS to Open 7/17
The Windham Theatre Guild, voted 3rd Best Community Company by the Hartford Reader's Poll for 2015, is excited to present live on stage the Stephen Sondheim's musical masterpiece Into The Woods opening Friday, July 17th at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic.
Be careful what you wish for! In his beloved, Tony Award winning musical (recently made into a major motion picture!), Stephen Sondheim puts a modern twist on the classic fairy tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel and ties them together with an original story involving a childless baker and his wife trying to break a witch's curse. All the characters are wishing for something, and some are willing to do whatever it takes to make those wishes come true. But, actions have consequences-even in Happily Ever After. What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility, compassion in a menacing world, and the examples we set for the children around us. Funny, dark, lively, adventurous, and beautiful-this show will leave you spellbound!
Directing Into The Woods is Wayne Trembly, Musical Director is Linda Tracy, and Assistant Director Kaitie Hartman creatively choreographed the show.
Into The Woods runs July 17, 18, 24, 25, 30, 31, and August 1 at 7:30pm and Sunday July 19 & 26 at 2pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre.
