Moon Over the Brewery, a comedy, by Bruce Graham, takes the stage at Westport Community Theatre with performances from April 7 through 23.

Dan Friedman directs the WCT production, with an outstanding local cast of Katelyn Ferrari, Jessie Gilbert, Marc Hartog and Jeff Pliskin. Cindy Hartog produces the show.

Moon Over the Brewery is a touching, gently humorous study of a precocious teenager's "coming of age," in which fantasy and reality are deftly juxtaposed.

The cast in the comedy includes a girl, her mom, a mailman and an imaginary friend. Amanda, a teenage genius and her mother, Miriam, a free-spirit single mom, conflict over Miriam's male companions. Warren is a local postman interested in Miriam, and Randolph, Amanda's imaginary friend and partner in crime, helps her plot to get men out of Miriam's life.

Director Dan Friedman, who has written several plays and screenplays, is the Director of Development for the Bedford Playhouse. His previous directing credits include Lend Me A Tenor and Don't Drink The Water for WCT; The Dinner Party, and Laughter on the 23rd Floor for the Darien Players and Moonlight and Magnolias for CT Playmakers.

Actress Jessie Gilbert returns as Miriam after her last appearance with WCT in Don't Drink the Water. She recently portrayed Pamela Prideaux in Getting Away With Murder with Town Players of New Canaan, and Becca in Commons of Pensacola at the Wilton Playshop, for which she was nominated for the 2016 Onstage Critics Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play.

Jeff Pliskin last appeared on the WCT stage as the prosecutor in Witness for the Prosecution. He has been performing in local theater for 25 years and his many roles have included Felix in The Odd Couple, and Atticus in To Kill a Mockingbird. He has also appeared in The Front Page; The Sisters Rosensweig; and several other Neil Simon works, including Laughter on the 23rd Floor; The Dinner Party; and Plaza Suite.

Katelyn Ferrari, who plays the young Amanda, is a freshman at Stratford High School. She has appeared as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Little Sally in Urinetown, and Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde Jr.

Marc Hartog is back on the WCT stage as Warren. Previous appearances include Frost/Nixon, Barefoot in the Park, A Few Good Men, and Lend me a Tenor, among others. Regional productions include Moonlight and Magnolias at Milford Arts Center, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Curtain Call, and Almost Maine in Darien.

Moon Over the Brewery is produced by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc., and has performances from April 7 through 23, on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, with a Thursday performance on April 13 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25, $23 for seniors and students, and can be purchased at westportcommunitytheatre.com or by calling (203) 226-1983.
