Warner Theatre Adds Paula Poundstone, SWAN LAKE and More to 2012-13 Lineup

The Warner Theatre has just announced eight new shows to their 2012-2013 line up.

Sarah Manning’s Harmonious Creature: Friday, May 25
According to famed jazz writer Nat Hentoff, alto saxophonist and composer Sarah Manning “can swing as naturally as she breathes – an enlivening presence in the new generation of jazz makers. Manning plays – and writes – in what is unmistakably her own voice.” Her singular dedication to developing that voice distinguishes her from her peers, and illuminates a path rife with intrigue”. Paula Poundstone is one of the foremost comics working today. Cantus- All Is Calm: Saturday, Dec 1
The Christmas Truce of 1914″ by Peter Rothstein, with musical arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach. Through new arrangements of European carols and war-songs for a capella voices, All Is Calm recalls the remarkable World War I truce between Allied Forces and German soldiers in no man’s land on Christmas, 1914. Vienna Boys’ Choir Holiday Concert: Friday, Dec 7
The Vienna Boys Choir was founded in 1498 in Austrian Emperor Maximilian I’s court. Since then, the troupe of choristers has expanded to include four touring choirs, and boast a collective sound that exhibits “astonishing vocal range,” according to The Washington Post. Kenny Vance and the Planatones: Saturday, Dec 15
Among today's great vocal pop musicians, Kenny Vance and The Planotones have voices of original and inviting dimension. The group, Kenny Vance, Johnny Gale, Kurt "Frenchy" Yahjian, Jimmy Bense, key boardist Chip Degaard, and Tony Gallino on Drums, redefine oldies with vocal authority and freshness. Empire Brass presents the Sound of Christmas featuring Elisabeth von Trapp: Friday, Dec 20
Empire Brass enjoys an international reputation as North America’s finest brass quintet, renowned for its brilliant virtuosity and the unparalleled diversity of its repertoire. All five musicians have held leading positions with major American orchestras and performed around the world.

Empire Brass will be joined by the granddaughter of the legendary Maria & Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired The Sound of Music. With a voice critics have called “hauntingly clear” (New York Times), von Trapp, along with the Empire Brass, “will send a thrill of pleasure through your nervous system” (Boston Globe). The Pipes, Drums and Highland Dancers of the 1st Battalion The Black Watch and The Band of the Scots Guards: Saturday, March 16, 2013
A fully operational battalion in the modern British army, the history of the Black Watch (bagpipers, drummers, and Highland dancers) dates back almost 300 years. Since its early beginnings, the Band has toured extensively and brought the pomp and pageantry of British life to many far-flung comers of the world. In recent years it has visited Belgium, Egypt, Spain, the USA and Canada. Within its ranks the musicians come from a variety of backgrounds such as colleges, academies, other military bands and orchestras. Permanently based in London, its members enjoy a varied and challenging musical career. They can regularly be seen at the ceremony of Changing The Guard at Buckingham Palace and many other State and ceremonial occasions. Swan Lake as Presented by the Moscow Festival Ballet: Tues April 9, 2013
Revered as the epitome of classical ballets, Swan Lake is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and the triumph of good over evil. It is the haunting story of Odette, a young maiden bewitched by the evil sorcerer von Rothbart under whose spell young maidens are condemned to be swans by day and human only at night. The Moscow Imperial Theater first performed Swan Lake in Moscow in 1877. Tickets $75/$60/$45
