This Friday, May 31, WCT's Cabaret returns to the Westport Woman's Club. Actors who have appeared in comedies, dramas, mysteries, and musicals on our stage will turn into crooners, swing singers, and stand-up comics as May tips into June. The irrepressibleRob Watts will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening; Rich Mancini & Joan Barere, Fred Tisch, and Linda Gilmore will recreate the routines of classic American comedians of yesteryear, all of whom honed their craft on the Borscht Belt in the heyday of those Catskills resorts. And you'll be tempted to hum along, or dream along, to the melodies of such great songs as "I've Got You Under My Skin," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "The Man That Got Away," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Ain't Misbehavin'," and more. Ryan Hendrickson, Priscilla Squiers, Lisa Dahlstrom, Chris Wilkes, Ruth Anne Baumgartner, Stephen DiRocco, Kim Lowden, Randye Kaye, Donna Wyant-how's that for a musical lineup?

Besides being a way to offer something a little different to our audiences, and a chance to have some fun together, the Cabaret is a fund-raiser to help us complete a project we've been trying to afford for several years: an enhanced-audio system for the theatre.

Tickets are $40 each. This fee covers admission, complimentary desserts and beverages, wine at the table (donated by DIAGEO), a complimentary ticket to our June production, Frost/Nixon. We invite you to bring a picnic dinner to round out your evening.

Linda Gilmore, Richard Mancini and Ryan Hendrickson join a cast of WCT favorites.

Doors will open at 7:00, at which time music will be available for your listening pleasure as you dine and socialize; comedy and singing will begin at 7:30. We expect the evening to last until 9:00 or so.

Accompaniment and musical interludes will be provided by Bob Lasprogato's Uptown Jazz. Bob himself is unwell and won't be able to participate; but a substitute will join Phil Bowler on the stringed bass and Joe McWilliams on the grand piano. Bob put a lot of work into the planning of the Cabaret and we are proud to share the result.

You can pay by credit card via the Box Office phone, or by cash or check at the door. Either way, you should make your reservation now so we know to expect you. The Box Office phone number is 203-226-1983. See you Friday at the Westport Woman's Club, 44 Imperial Avenue, Westport.
