Triple Threat Performer Intensive Makes Its Debut at the Palace 7/25-29

By: Jul. 13, 2011

From July 25-29, Broadway performer Arbender Robinson and other guest artists will direct the "Triple Threat Performer Intensive" - a week-long intensive in the study of theater arts that will help young aspiring performers become stronger and more dynamic in their art and will provide the tools required to become a true Triple Threat Performer. Singing. Dancing. Acting. Possessing these three skills are what make a true (and rare) "Triple Threat Performer".

The workshops will serve to educate, develop and strengthen the students' skills as dancers, singers and actors. Classes will include: Audition Techniques, Theatre Dance, Voice, Acting, Improvisation, Scene Study and Individual Coaching. Students will be showcased at the end of the intensive in their discipline of choice. Guest artists include Zakiya Young, original cast member of The Little Mermaid; Benjamin Cook, currently starring in Billy Elliott; and Wallace Smith, whose credits include Simba in The Lion King, Ragtime and American Idiot.

"I am very excited about bringing this program to SCA, and I hope it serves a number of goals," said program creator and director Arbender Robinson. "I hope that this program inspires new and old talent to continue to express themselves through the arts and gain a broader understanding of the craft. I hope that it creates a new place to learn the craft of acting and truly focus on the technique behind the performing arts. And most importantly to me, I want this program to open up the arts community to those that may not have been exposed to the arts otherwise, and it becomes all those things I wish I was able to be a part of as a child but could not afford."

"Arbender brings such enthusiasm and amazing skill to this program," said SCA Director of Education, Carol Bryan. "Educating the next generation of musical theatre performers is very close to his heart, and his passion for the arts is so evident in all the hard work he has done to create this program and assemble the incredibly talented guest artists who will be joining him."

The Triple Threat Performer Intensive is part of SCA's Arts Education Program and is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors RFR Realty and Purdue Pharma and Producing Sponsor Pitney Bowes.
