The New Paradigm Theatre Hosts 'So You Wanna Be a Broadway Star?' Event, 3/12

By:

Broadway, Film,TV performers and directors- Scott Bryce, Paul Bogaev, Tracey Moore and John Reid - will watch singers and actors perform and will give each person profes- sional feedback at this talent development event.

Last year, students from Greenwich to Hartford, CT performed. Cidalia Alves, the 2014 winner, gained valuable talent development skills from the NPT Broadway profession- als, and appeared on TV following the competition. "The chance to perform in front of Broadway decision makers and to network with them was invaluable," said Alves. Short video of the event:

John Reid, Producing Artistic Director of FTC, said, "It's very rewarding to work with these ex- ceptionally talented performers and to be able encourage them to continue their quest in the pursuit of excellence in their art."

Kristin Huffman, NPT's Producing Artistic Director, a Broadway Performer and a profes- sor at the University of Hartford, will also lead a master-class-like panel discussion with TV and Film professional, Scott Bryce; Film and Broadway Music Producer, Paul Bo- gaev; and University Professor/Broadway performer from the Hartt School, Tracey Moore. Huffman says, "Mentoring and talent development is a large part of NPT's mis- sion statement. We often feature standout performers from this event in NPT's various professional shows. Our Youth Board & Student Leadership Council crowd-funds and performs for other nonprofits with our Broadway pros like for the upcoming April 16th gala for Bridgeport Council of Churches."

Paul Bogaev (Music Producer for the films: Dreamgirls, Across the Universe and Chica- go) says, "In the entertainment industry, networking is crucial to success. I have been a judge for every one of these events and have seen the singers and actors not only grow from the advice given by my colleagues but also get industry jobs! "

NPT will also select performers from this event the chance to sing or act in other NPT shows throughout the 2016-2017 season as well as a very special upcoming theatrical production this summer directed by Scott Bryce and music direction by Paul Bogaev.
