THE NUTCRACKER to Play Ridgefield Playhouse, 12/19-20

By:
Nothing marks the holiday season like seeing a production of The Nutcracker Ballet. The young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a fierce battle against a Mouse King, set to Tchaikovsky's iconic score transports you to a world of wonder where ballerinas dance in an enchanting Land of Sweets. A Ridgefield tradition, the beloved Christmas story will once again come to the Playhouse stage. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary, Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance presents The Nutcracker at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday December 19, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday December 20, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., under the direction of Ballet Master Alexander Glaz. Artistic Director Amy Piantaggini says "Year after year we are delighted to feature the high-level achievements of our pre-professional students in our full-scale production in partnership with the Ridgefield Playhouse".

Approximately ninety children ranging from age 5 to 17 will perform, including Janel Fitzgerald as Sugar Plum Fairy, Jennifer Kochanski as Snow Queen, and Taylor Bergstraesser as Dew Drop Fairy. Returning guest artists include First Selectman Rudy Marconi, adjunct faculty member Edgar Cortes as Drosselmeyer, RCD alumnus Isaac Lerner as Snow King, and Brent Whitney as the Sugar Plum Fairy's Cavalier. For the first time, a Mouse King is featured, and Clara will dance on pointe. Before or after the performance, visit Dimitri's Diner (16 Prospect Street, Ridgefield) for lunch or dinner and enjoy 10% off your bill when tickets are presented. Media partner for this event is Danbury's 98Q.

For tickets ($25 Adults, $20 Seniors and Children), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
