Over the weekend, female hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa co-headlined with r&b group TLC for the "It's Iconic" tour at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The evening began with a DJ spinning a mix of old-school jams to pump up the crowd for the main event.

The stage opened with special guests En Vogue, crooning their classic R&B and pop hits from the 90s, while decked out in sparkly sequins. The three ladies, Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Rhona Bennettsang sang all the favorites, including ”My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It), ”Giving Him Something He Can Feel,” and "Free Your Mind,” incorporating smooth choreographed dancing with each.

TLC came on after with electric energy, but noticeably from only one group member. Chilli (Rozonda Thomas) took the stage solo, noting that her fellow group member T-Boz (Tionne Watkins) was dealing with a flare-up of sickle cell disease. While the absence of T-Boz was felt, Chilli worked the audience on her own and did it well, singing "Diggin' On You,” “Creep,” “Waterfalls,” and “Unpretty,” dedicating the latter to T-Boz herself. But who can forget “Red Light Special” with Chilli singing and dancing among her incredibly fit male dancers? We can’t.

Then, it was Salt-N-Pepa’s turn, and what a show that was. Sandra Denton and Cheryl James truly made for a fun time for all with their playful outfits and their beloved classics, like “Push It,” “Shoop,” and “Let’s Talk About Sex,” songs that they both admitted got us all in trouble listening to back in the day. Let’s not forget DJ Spinderella working her magic on the turntable and spinning for the group.

The fun-filled night was full of good vibes, keeping us out of our seats and taking us back in time with tried-and-true tunes that prove to stand the test of time.
