By:

Radio City-style production, Holiday Spectacular, starring Tony Award-winner Debbie Gravitte, returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday & Friday, December 19 & 20

Where can you see a Radio City-style holiday show with a hometown feel and convenient location? At The Ridgefield Playhouse when Tony Award-winner Debbie Gravitte puts on her Holiday Spectacular in a choice of three performances: Thursday, December 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, December 20, at 5 p.m. & 8 p.m. There's nothing like music to ring in the holidays and lift spirits. When the music is the centerpiece of a hometown holiday show starring and directed by Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte who has assembled a talented cast of kids and adults, it's sure to create family memories. Holiday Spectacular is Debbie's version of the Radio City extravaganza featuring local and professional talent, so it's a chance to see family and friends perform along side a Tony Award-winner whose voice and command of the stage make her a consummate entertainer. There will be singing, dancing, merriment and, of course, Santa may make an appearance. Dancers from The Ridgefield Studio of Performing Arts, The Gray School of Irish Dance and young ladies from Grace Reddy's Tang Yun Dance School will perform. Debbie's son, song and dance man Sam Gravitte, will sing in this year's show. The audience will be able to participate in a sing-along and may even get to share the stage with Debbie for an awesome "Twelve Days of Christmas". The evening will include some Broadway favorites and conclude with "White Christmas", which tends to pull at the heartstrings every year. This Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series?event is partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa and The Manhattan Club with media sponsor WMNR Fine Arts Radio 88.1fm. For Dinner-and-a-Show, Bernard's (22 West Lane, Ridgefield), is offering a free glass of wine with dinner, or a $45 special prix-fixe dinner when tickets are presented; reservations suggested.

"One of the best voices on Broadway!" raves the Associated Press about Debbie Gravitte who, along with her shining cast, will sing holiday favorites -- "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "Twelve Days of Christmas", "I'll Be Home for Christmas" plus some Broadway show tunes. Ms. Gravitte, who won a Tony for her performance in Jerome Robbin's Broadway, graces concert stages around the globe with her "... magnetic stage presence", writes Hollywood critic Rex Reed. Debbie's other Broadway credits include Chicago (Mama Morton), They're Playing Our Song and LES MISERABLES.

For tickets ($25 adults, $20 children), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
