Registration Now Open for Creative Kids and Creative Kids Plus Acting Classes

Spring really is on its way and what better way to celebrate by by enrolling your budding young actor for theatre classes which include creative play and interactive fun at Playhouse on Park! Registration for Creative Kids and Creative Kids Plus is now open! Creative Kids teaches students the basics of acting and is open to children in kindergarten and first grade. Creative Kids Plus builds on the basics, focusing on creative play, and is open to students in first and second grade. Both classes run from April 3-June 12.

In both levels, exercises and games focus on acting through story telling, creating a character, expressing a feeling, music, and movement. A craft and story are often included. By the end of the session, students will know how to use their bodies and voices to create characters. Though the emphasis of the class will be on developing skills and not on a final performance, family and friends are invited to the last class to see students present scenes.

Both Creative Kids and Creative Kids Plus are instructed by Tori Mooney, who is no newbie to The Playhouse or to teaching! You might recognize Tori from seeing her perform on The Playhouse on Park stage or at AC Petersen's on Monday nights at Mainstage Monday. Her Playhouse on Park Theatre for Young Audience credits include GO, DOG. GO!, GOODNIGHT MOON, MAIN STREET KIDS CLUB, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, BUSYTOWN, FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY, and PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL. Under the employment of Hartford Stage, Tori has taught many classes including Mini Production, Storybook Theatre, and Musical Theatre Cabaret Jr. Tori has also been the Director, Musical Director, Choreographer, and Costumer for 101 DALMATIONS KIDS (2013) & THE JUNGLE BOOK (2015). One of her big passions is teaching Summer Theatre Camp at Hartford Children's Theatre/Hartford Stage Summer Studio! She has been the Director of Children's Cast (ages 5-8) since 2011.

Creative Kids runs from 4:30pm-5:30pm on Mondays. Creative Kids Plus runs from 5:45pm-6:45pm on Mondays. Each class per student is priced at $120.
