Registration Now Open For Playhouse Theatre Academy's Spring Session

By:

Playhouse Theatre Academy is a theatre school created by Playhouse on Park offering recreational classes and pre-professional training for both children & adults. All programs, classes and workshops will now be held at The 224 EcoSpace which is conveniently located for anyone in Greater Hartford area and beyond.

Registration is now open for the Young Actors Training Program Spring Session, where students learn the vocabulary, skills, and joy of performing in a nurturing community. Our professional faculty is committed to awakening each student's artistry with care and empathy, providing hands on intensive workshops in acting, musical theatre, improvisation, and more!

Creative Kids (grades K-2) is an introduction to theater through creative play. Each session will have a theme. Exercises and games will focus on acting, storytelling, puppetry, music, and movement. A story will often be incorporated. In fact, most of the time the kiddos become the playwrights themselves! By the end of the class, students will be able to use their bodies and voices to start to create characters. Due to an overwhelmingly positive response, we've added an additional Saturday morning Creative Kids class! Saturday classes begin on April 20, and Monday classes begin on April 15.

Puttin' on a Show (grades 1-3) explores the process of putting together a script and a performance utilizing the fundamentals that our students have previously gained from the CREATIVE KIDS class. Children will continue to study theatre through creative play. Puttin' on a Show begins on April 15.

Young Actors (grades 3-5) allows upper elementary students their own space to explore acting in Improvisation, Scenes, and New Plays. Starting with ensemble building activities, students will work to improve their performance technique as a group, in partners and individually. Young Actors begins on April 17.

Actor Performance Training Program (grades 6-8) is for students who are interested in improving their acting and performance technique. Students will first study improvisation and ensemble building, then will move on to an in-depth study of creating a character using techniques for voice and body. Actor Performance Training Program begins April 18. There is a once a year $15 registration fee for each student of the Playhouse Theatre Academy. There is a 10% sibling discount.

For details regarding class times, instructors, and fees, please visit www.playhouseonpark.org. To register, call the Playhouse box office at 860-523-5900 x10. The 224 EcoSpace is located at 244 Farmington Ave, Hartford, CT 06105.
