Playhouse on Park Adds HAIR Weekday Matinee

By:

The wildly engaging and lively production of HAIR at Playhouse on Park has produced such a positive response from critics and patrons alike, resulting in a special offer. Tickets for this matinee performance on Tuesday, June 30 at 2:00 pm, are now on sale! All seats are being offered at one low price of $32.50.

If the several sold out performances have been any indication, the story and spirit originated in 1968 have proved to be timeless, resonating with audience members. Lauren Yarger of the Connecticut Arts Connection observes: "[Director Sean] Harris' wise focus on the people instead of trying to make a political statement, combine to give this story a fresh telling." With book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, their work presents itself as a rock musical with words that ring true to this day. Original music by Galt McDermot include titillating numbers such as Aquarius, I Believe In Love, and Good Morning Starshine, which promise to evoke memories for all who lived through the exciting time that was post mid-century America.

In addition to these amazing performances, audience members are given the opportunity to join in making music with an Open Mic Night. Set for July 18, this event is free and open to the public. The merriment begins after the show, and an accompanist will be provided.

HAIR runs through July 19. Each Sunday matinee performance is followed by a talk back question and answer session between audience members and the cast.

Each Tuesday matinee ticket is priced at a reduced rate of $32.50, all seats reserved. Ticket sales are already strong, so secure yours today by calling the Playhouse box office at 860-523-5900 x10, or visitwww.playhouseonpark.org. Due to strong language, nudity, and drug use, HAIR is recommended for ages 16 and up.
