Stamford Center for the Arts brings back Irish music legends Paddy Moloney & The Chieftains on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 8 PM at Stamford's Palace Theatre. Opening acts include The Low Anthem, Sultans of String and Bagad New York. Tickets are on sale now at www.SCAlive.org. Six time Grammy winners, The Chieftains, are now recognized for bringing traditional Irish music to the world's attention.

"After completing a successful 50th anniversary world tour, ending the year with an incredible tour of Japan where the shows were well received by sold-out crowds, we are re-energized and more excited than ever to tour the United States," says founder and leader Paddy Moloney. "I feel that the upcoming tour could hold some of our most exciting shows to date. The band is at the height of performing and the shows are bigger and better than ever."

The world's most influential and successful traditional Irish band, The Chieftains is a towering figure in Celtic music. The group has defined the genre for a popular audience worldwide during their astonishing 50-year career, collaborating with legends like Sting, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, and The Rolling Stones along the way.

The Low Anthem collaborated with The Chieftains on Voice of Ages, which Rolling Stone called "killer" and Billboard hailed as "momentous."

Sultans of String thrill their audiences with their global sonic tapestry of Spanish Flamenco, Arabic folk, Cuban rhythms, and French Manouche Gypsy-jazz, celebrating musical fusion and human creativity with warmth and virtuosity. Fiery violin dances with rumba-flamenco guitar while a funk bass lays down unstoppable grooves.

A Bagad is an orchestra consisting principally of three instruments: the bagpipe, the bombarde, and percussion. Bagad New York plays traditional music from Brittany, but draws on many influences, from other Celtic nations' music, to rock, jazz, and other ethnic traditions.
