To celebrate the arrival of the national tour of Hamilton at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts (December 11 - 30), the Broadway music radio program, "On Broadway," will feature an all-Presidential themed show on Sunday, December 9 from 5:30-6:30pm on WRTC-FM, 89.3. The program can also be heard online at www.wrtcfm.com.

"Alexander Hamilton may not have reached the Presidency," said long time host Stuart Brown, "but a number of characters in the musical Hamilton such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe did ascend to our nation's highest office."

"The most well-known Presidential musical is probably 1776, which will be represented," stated the West Hartford resident. "I'll also be playing songs from less recognized productions such as the 1968 revue, How to Steal an Election, which has such songs as 'Silent Cal' and 'With Tippecanoe and Tyler Too.' The Off-Broadway show, Rap Master Ronnie, has Ronald Reagan at the center and was co-written by Doonesbury cartoonist Garry Trudeau.

Other musicals that will be part of the December 9 broadcast include productions one might not necessarily associate with Presidents such as Annie, Call Me Madam and Newsies. "Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt is a major supporting player in Annie," said Brown, who has hosted his Broadway radio program for over 25 years. "FDR even sings along with the rest of the cast in the song 'A New Deal for Christmas.' Teddy Roosevelt is featured in Newsies and Call Me Madam has the famous Irving Berlin song 'I Like Ike.' Also represented will be the 2015 Off-Broadway production of Clinton - the Musical, which includes such ditties as 'A Starr is Born,' 'Monica's Song,' and 'A Place Called Hope.'
