According to reports from the Hartford Courant, Tony nominee Marin Ireland will receive the 2010 Hartt Alumni Award from the Hartt School of the University of Harford in Connecticut. The award will be presented to her during the Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 16.

Ireland was a member of The Hartt School's first Actor Training graduating class and played Christine in the American premiere of Patrick Marber's AFTER MISS JULIE at the American Airlines Theatre.

Ireland, profiled in the May-June issue of "American Theatre," made her Broadway debut in REASONS TO BE PRETTY, and was nominated for a Tony for "Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play" for her performance. Her fellow nominees in that category included Broadway icon Angela Lansbury (the winner), Hallie Foote, Jessica Hynes, and Amanda Root. Ireland received rave reviews for her role in the Neil LaBute play, which opened on April 2 at New York's Lyceum Theatre. Ireland also won the prestigious Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performance during the 2008-2009 theatrical season.

Some of her other theatre credits include the Off-Broadway production of A LIE OF THE MIND, BLASTED, THE BEEBO BRINKER CHRONICLES, THE RUBY SUNRISE, THE HARLEQUIN STUDIES, MANUSCRIPT, and WHERE WE'RE BORN.
