Freda & Carleigh Welsh of Levitt Pavilion, actor KLea Blackhurst and Hugh Hallinan, Executive Producer of Downtown Cabaret are featured this week (Friday, July 8) on State of the ARTS which airs LIVE every Friday from 12noon to 1pm onWPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment program are Richard Phenegerand Peggy Nelson.

Freda Welsh, Executive Director, and Carleigh Welsh, Marketing & Development Director of the Levitt Pavilion, whichproduces one of the largest and longest-running free outdoor festivals in the nation, are scheduled to give listeners an overview of the 2016 season already under way in Westport, Connecticut.

The award-winning actress KLea Blackhurst stars in the title role of the hilarious new musical Judge Jackie: Disorder in the Court at Connecticut's Sharon Playhouse. Area audiences will remember her as Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid. She recently starred in the new musical Hazel: A Musical Made in America in Chicago. A recipient of the Connecticut Critics Circle Award, she has starred in Hello, Dolly! at East Haddam's Goodspeed Musicals and Everything the Traffic will Allow at Westport's Music Theatre of Connecticut.

Hugh Hallinan, Executive Producer of Bridgeport's Downtown Cabaret Theatre, will discuss the exciting current season of concerts, mainstage theatre productions and The Children's Theatre schedule

State of the ARTS, featuring arts and entertainment personalities, airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon-1pm on WPKN-FMlocated at 89.5, streams worldwide online at wpkn.org and is now available via podcasts on WPKN Community Radio.
