The Hartt Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band on Friday, December 9, at 7:30 PM, in Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. This combined concert with the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band features James Jackson leading the Hartt Symphony Band and Glen Adsit directing the Wind Ensemble. The concert features two guest conductors. Graduate Student Matt Forte leads the Symphony Band on Ron Nelson's Passacaglia and Ertan Esener conducts members of the Wind Ensemble on the Oliver Messian's 20th century masterpiece Oiseaux Exotiques.

Concluding the concert is Susan Botti's latest wind ensemble work Terra Cruda, which is a powerful new work that explores aspects of aggression.

The Hartt School presents the Hartt Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, December 10, at 7:30 PM, in Lincoln Theater, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Maestro Cumming conducts works that include España by Chabrier; Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz; and Symphony No. 3 by Hartt composition faculty member Larry Alan Smith.
