Joined by an ensemble of Music Theatre majors from The Hartt School, HSO Music Director Edward Cumming will lead an original show dedicated to Musical Theatre icon, Richard Rodgers, who is best known for his collaborations with lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II. The program will feature works from such popular Broadway shows as Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The Sound of Music, Carousel, and more.

HSO Music Director Edward Cumming says, "I am delighted that my final POPS! concert as music director will be with the fabulously gifted young men and women in the Music Theatre program at The Hartt School. And who - if anyone - can resist the music of that fabulous melodist, Richard Rodgers? Prepare to be engaged, enchanted, and enthralled."

Co-created by Edward Cumming and Michael Morris, Hartt's Director of Music in the Theatre Division, this show will start off with a medley from State Fair. The revue will continue with such musical hits as "Kansas City," accompanied by a tap dancing solo, "The Lady is a Tramp," and the sensational "Oklahoma!." After intermission, Hartt dancers will perform original choreography to "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue," Rodgers' only jazz ballet. The second half of the show also will feature Rodgers' well known "Blue Moon" and favorites from The Sound of Music, including "Edelweiss" and "My Favorite Things." The program will end with the dazzling choral number "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Rodgers' own favorite, Carousel.
