Hartt School Presents JOURNEY OF THE SOUL 4/28

The Hartt Symphony Orchestra and Choruses welcome the New Haven Chorale and the Connecticut Children's Chorus for Journey of the Soul, a gala concert of awe-inspiring musical masterpieces and readings that vividly portray man's spiritual journey, on Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 PM, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT. To reserve advanced-sale-only $25 premium seats for this concert, please contact the University of Hartford Box Office before 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 27, at 860.768.4228 or 1.800.274.8587, or visit www.hartford.edu/hartt. Premium seats are not available for sale on the day of the concert or at the door. Regular seating is a suggested donation of $20 at the door.

This inspirational performance will be repeated on Saturday, April 30, at 7:30 PM at Woosley Hall, 500 College Street (at Grove), New Haven, CT. Tickets are $35 for premium seating, $20 for regular seating, and $15 for seniors, and are available at www.newhavenchorale.org.

The concert opens with Maestro Edward Bolkovac leading Brahms' beloved Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), continues with Stravinsky's energetic Symphony of Psalms under the baton of Hartford Symphony Orchestra Director Edward Cumming, and concludes with "Urlicht" and the Finale of Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" led by Maestro Bolkovac. The concert features soloists Lesley Anne Friend, soprano, and Korby Myrick, mezzo soprano, as well as dramatic readings, presented by actress, Hartt faculty member, and Hartford-favorite JohAnna Morrison. The exhilarating sound of 400 performers fills the glorious space of The Cathedral of St. Joseph in a concert you will not want to miss!

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford that offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. Founded in 1920, Hartt has been an integral part of the University of Hartford since its charter merged the then Hartt School of Music, the Hartford Art School, and Hillyer College to create the University in 1957. 2010 markEd Hartt's 90th year of providing world class performing arts education to students in Greater-Hartford and around the world.
