DIAL 'M' FOR MURDER Opens at Town Players Tonight, 5/4

By:

The popular English mystery, DIAL M FOR MURDER, begins the Town Players' 2012 season tonight, May 4.

A scheming Tony Wendice (Gary L. Kline, Middlebury) has married his wife, Margot (Jillian Faye Liebman, Trumbull), for her money and now plans to murder her for the same reason. Using blackmail to use the services of a scoundrel from his past, Tony plans the perfect murder and arranges his own brilliant alibi. But the plan goes awry when the murderer gets murdered and Margot survives. Tony schemes once again to have his wife framed for the crime – but will he succeed?

Written by Frederick Knott, DIAL "M" FOR MURDER was first presented onstage at the Westminster Theatre, London, on June 19, 1952. It was later adapted for the 1954 silver screen version by the one and only Alfred Hitchcock and starred Ray Milland, Grace Kelly and Robert Cummings.

DIAL "M" FOR MURDER is under the direction of Gene Golaszewski of Brookfield, whose directing credits at Town Players include Cash on Delivery, Whodunnit and A Christmas Carol.

Show producer and Town Players chairman Pam Meister said, "This is one murder mystery that will make you think twice about cheating on your spouse!"

Rounding out the cast are: Jeffrey Bukowski (Shelton), Matthew Grasso (Bethel), and Ron Malyszka (Bridgewater).

In addition to Golaszewski and Meister, the production crew includes stage manager Georgie Kobylanski and tech crew Taylorann Chiarito and Cassidy Chiarito.

DIAL "M" FOR MURDER runs May 4,5, 11,12,13, 18,19,20, 25,26. Curtain time is 8 pm Fridays and Saturdays, with 2:00 pm matinees on May 13 and 20. Tickets are $20, $15 for matinee performances, and $10 children 10 and under. Please note that the Friday May 11 show is a sold-out benefit performance.
