CURIOUS GEORGE: THE GOLDEN MEATBALL Set for Ridgefield Playhouse, 5/7

By:
The Ridgefield Playhouse and Ridgefield Academy Family Series invite you to join the inquisitive, lovable little monkey Curious George, star of books, movies and the award winning PBS television show in a delightful new musical - Curious George: The Golden Meatball on Saturday, May 7 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. All-You-Can-Eat Meatball Day came just once a year and George had been waiting all month for that day, a day almost bigger than his birthday! This "Tasty Treat" is partially underwritten by Bruce Bennett Nissan, South Salem Animal Hospital and Noah's Ark Animal Hospital, with Support from Books on the Common and the Ridgefield Library. Before the show, free samples of the "Golden Meatball" will be in the lobby courtesy of Mima's Meatballs & More! You can also have your photo taken with Scooby Doo in the lobby! With every swing and flip, George takes the audience through a fun-filled adventure in which he learns more about Rome...and meatballs...and the "secret ingredient" to cooking! Your Golden Ticket Awaits! Purchase a WONKA bar in the lobby for a chance to win prizes at the June 29th screening of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory! Before or after the show, visit Dimitri's Diner (16 Prospect Street, Ridgefield) and enjoy 10% off your meal when you show your ticket! Media sponsor for this event is Danbury's 98Q.

On Meatball Day, George helped his friend Chef Pisghetti cook some delicious meatballs, and serve them to the hungry crowd. But this year, the crowd had vanished! Something was keeping people away. Something pretty big. And that "something" was Phinneas T. Lightspeed and his speedy Meatballs O'Matic machine. In despair, Chef Pisghetti vows to cook no more. Determined to help his friend, George goes on a mission to enter the Chef's meatballs in the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest...in Rome.

Curious George: The Golden Meatball, a new musical based on the books by Margret and H.A. Rey, and the play owned by Universal Stage Productions, features a book and lyrics by Jeremy Desmon with original music by John Kavanaugh. This production was originally directed and choreographed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Broadways's Ragtime, Theatreworks USA's Seussical). The show features costumes by Tracy Christenson (Lortel nominee for Theatreworks' Seussical) with sets by Michael Schweikardt.

For tickets ($15), call the box office at 203-438-5795, or visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
