Review: NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT

A quirky musical comedy with music by George and Ira Gershwin, Nice Work If You Can Get It is a fun, laugh-out-loud show that's fun for all ages.

The story is set in the 1920s about a too-rich-for-his-own-good Jimmy Winter who is about to get married. But this isn't his first time. This money-obsessed playboy has had several failed marriages under his belt but is hoping for latest to be the one that triumphs the rest. But as Jimmy and his soon-to-be wife Eileen Evergreen (and let's not forget "delicious" modern dancer) are away preparing for their wedding, a new girl grabs Jimmy's eye and takes him on a journey he'll never forget.

Meet Billie Bendix, a local bad girl bootlegger who's surveying the house Jimmy and Eileen are staying in on their wedding getaway. Billie along with her sidekicks are after the abundance amount of booze stored in the property's basement and nothing will stop them from getting it. Not even dressing up as a butler and playing weighing on the couple - and their family - on hand and foot.

But when Jimmy meets Billie, unexpected sparks fly and the two form a ridiculous and silly relationship you can help but root for.

With the gorgeous costumes, fun dancing routines, powerful voices and comedic performances, this is a show that'll make your belly ache and your heart melt.

Nice Work If You Can Get It is currently open at Warner Theater in Torrington, Connecticut.
