The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today applications are now being accepted for the Fellows Program through Friday, May 9, 2014. The conference begins Wednesday, July 23rd and runs through Saturday, August 2nd, with performances every evening except Monday, July 28th. The line-up of performers for the Conference will be announced in the coming months, with tickets available in early June.

The Cabaret & Performance Conference received the 2014 Board of Directors Award from the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs, to be awarded at a ceremony on Thursday, March 27 in New York, for the program's contributions to cabaret artists and the art form since launching in 1989. Now under the artistic leadership of Grammy and Emmy Award Winner John McDaniel, the conference reexamines, redefines, and revitalizes the Cabaret art form for the 21st century using a definition of cabaret as "any kind of live performance in an intimate space that often breaks the fourth wall". The two-week conference beginning in late July features hands-on artistic guidance and instruction to a select group of participants chosen by application and invitation.

Selected individuals for the Fellows Program are provided with an intense course of study under the direction of Master Artist Teachers for 2014 Barb Jungr and Eric Kornfeld. With two sessions daily and masterclasses with visiting artists, Fellows prepare for a public performance during the conference, and are also encouraged to experiment and sing at the conference's open mic sessions. The Junior Fellows Program, led by Brad Simmons (Lysistrata Jones), offers select local middle and high school students the opportunity for professional vocal instruction, movement, and hands-on artistic guidance in the art of performance. These students gain valuable interaction with professional guest artists and the world renowned faculty, and acquire skills needed to make Cabaret performance an important part of their creative lives. Junior Fellows are featured during the Cabaret Showcase performance evening as well as at the conference's open mic sessions.

John McDaniel, Artistic Director of the Cabaret & Performance Conference, notes, "I am thrilled to be welcomed back to the O'Neill this summer and greatly look forward to my second season as Artistic Director. The Fellows remain an important facet to the Conference and we fully intend to nurture performers in this art form by creating an atmosphere of learning, growth, and fun."

Those interested in the Fellows Program can get more information and apply online by visiting www.theoneill.org/summer-conferences/cabaret/submission-info. There is a $35.00 USD application fee.

Local auditions for the Junior Fellows program will be held on Friday, April 25th.
