This fall, Town Players of Newtown will be staging Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP, and opening night is Friday, September 30 at 8 PM.

In this classic mystery, a group of strangers is trapped in a boarding house during a snow storm. Just as Detective Sergeant Trotter, who is traveling on skis, arrives at the boarding house, murder occurs. Among the suspects are the newly married couple who run the house, aspinster with a curious background, an architect whose talents are better directed in the kitchen, a retired Army major, a peculiar man who claims his car has overturned in a snow drift, and a jurist who isn't happy unless he's making life miserable for everyone else. As the detective investigates the death, he probes the background of everyone present, rattling a lot of skeletons in the process.

With the longest initial run of any play in history, THE MOUSETRAP's original West End cast included Richard Attenborough as Detective Sergeant Trotter, and his wife Sheila Sim as Mollie Ralston.

Directed by Gene Golaszewski of Brookfield, THE MOUSETRAP features the talents of Christopher Bird of Newtown, Jeffry Bukowski of Shelton, Brian DeToma of Danbury, Rick Haylon of Newtown, Ron Malyszka of Bridgewater, Kimberly Marcus of Danbury, Keli Solomon of New Milford, and Judy Sullivan of Bridgewater. The production crew includes co-producers Lynn Alexander of Southbury and Tracy Nashel of Newtown, stage manager Terry Polvay of Sandy Hook, set designer Timothy Huebenthal of Southbury, light and Sound Designer Nick Kay of Bethel, booth technician Herbie Perlman of Bethel, set decorator Linda Dohanos of Newtown, and assistant set decorator Carol Nurenberg of Boston.

THE MOUSETRAP runs September 30 - October 22. Curtain times are 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays, with 2 PM Sunday matinees on October 9 & 16 at 2 PM. Tickets are $22; $18 for matinee performances.
