Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd agrees to run the bases with the Devil so that his favorite team, the Washington Senators, will have the chance to win the pennant against the dreaded New York Yankees. Amidst his transformation to star-slugger Joe Hardy, he realizes the true worth of the life he’s left behind and has to find a way to outsmart his fiery adversary before his soul is lost for eternity. The winning score by Adler and Ross and the devilish book by George Abbot feature songs “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets,” “(You Gotta Have) Heart” and many more home-run hits!
