The Ohio State University Department of Dance announces a series of master of fine arts (MFA) dance concerts in February and early March. Part of an ongoing series of dance performances collectively titled 10 Big Ideas, the dance concerts take place at a broad range of venues, from Thompson Library on campus to the Urban Arts Space downtown.

Library Dance Works
February 4, 12:15 pm
Thompson Library, 1858 Neil Ave.
Brian Devine experiments with site-specific dance for his MFA project, and explores the ways in which dance is informed by the space in which it is performed, in this case, Ohio State's Thompson Library. Free.

Ten-Four
February 7-9, 8 pm
BalletMet Performance Space, 322 Mount Vernon Ave.
Four dance projects are included:
• Jennifer Meckley's project investigates the fusion of hip hop and contemporary dance, and explores the various choreographic approaches dance artists use to present street dance on the concert stage.
• Erin Carlisle Norton performed and taught dance in Guatemala and Morocco as inspiration for her dance duet Two Worlds (pictured), which integrates these cultural experiences.
• Ann Sofie Clemmensen, in collaboration with her dancers, examines physical thinking and new movement pathways.
• Joyelle Fobbs directs students from various fields of study and ethnic backgrounds in a recreation of the first fully integrated ballet company of the 1940s.
Tickets are $10 general admission, available from the OSU Theatre Box Office (614) 292-2295, or at the door (cash only) subject to availability.
