Brent Burington to Star in A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Ohio Theatre, Begin. 11/29

By:

An annual tradition for more than 30 years, the Nebraska Theatre Caravan brings Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol back to Columbus over Thanksgiving weekend with Columbus native Brent Burington performing the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge. This timeless tale of Scrooge and his search for the true spirit of Christmas captures every detail of the classic holiday tale, from the spine-chilling ghosts to the gorgeous renditions of traditional British carols. Crotchety Scrooge, lovable Tiny Tim, and all the fascinating characters that audiences have come to love make it a treasured kick off to the holiday season in Columbus.

CAPA presents Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) on Friday, November 29, at 7:30pm; Saturday, November 30, at 2pm and 7:30pm; and Sunday, December 1, at 2pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are $22-$32 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000. Individuals between the ages of 13-25 may purchase $5 PNC Arts Alive All Access tickets while available. For more information, visit www.GoFor5.com.

This Family Series presentation is made possible through the generous support of Bob Evans, series sponsor AEP, and CAPA season sponsor American Airlines.

Performed by a spirited ensemble cast of actors and musicians, A Christmas Carol features almost two dozen traditional Christmas melodies including "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Good King Wenceslaus," "Away in a Manger," and "Here We Come A-Wassailing." The production artfully recreates both the poverty and luxury of 19th-century London as a backdrop to the fable of Ebenezer Scrooge, a lonely man who is given the rarest of gifts-the chance to change his life and find his heart.

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan is the professional touring wing of the Omaha Community Playhouse, a unique partnership of a professional company and the nation's largest community theatre. They have two touring companies that perform each November and December throughout the Midwest, South, and East Coast, entertaining thousands of families across the country.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Burington has worked on stage, in film, and commercials, as a voiceover artist, director, stage combat choreographer, writer, scenic designer, and theatre instructor. He is on the teaching staff at the Children's Theatre of Mason. This is the first time in 22 years he has not been touring in his own one-man version of A Christmas Carol. Other favorites include Antonio Salieri in Amadeus, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, and the title part in Shakespeare's Richard III each of which he has played multiple times with different companies.
