Theatre Ninjas Presents THE EVACUATION, 4/72
By: Nicole Rosky
Theater Ninjas will wrap up their fifth, critically-acclaimed season this April with the world premiere of "The Excavation", an original theatrical experience that blends live action, music and visual art. The interactive show celebrates the life, death and re-discovery of Pompeii, a roman city destroyed by volcano. In addition to drawing parallels between 79 C.E. and the present day, "The Excavation" examines the way people reveal more about themselves when digging into the past.
"The Excavation" is a living museum staged throughout multiple rooms and galleries. Professors, Pompeiians and charlatans act as guides as the spectator walks through a labyrinth of exhibits, choosing his/her own adventure. From living statue gardens to extreme science demonstrations to vaudevillian puppet shows, "The Excavation" argues reasons for preserving Pompeii while asking why anyone should even care in the first place.April 7 - April 23, 2011
